St. Clair Men’s Baseball Celebrate Signing Day with Eight Commitments

Windsor, ON – The St. Clair College Men's Baseball team are welcoming eight commitments to the program in 2026 including five local standouts as well as three from out of town.

Joining his older brother on the pitching staff will be 6'2" RHP Cameron Grondin who will be an Honour Roll graduate from Windsor's Riverside Secondary this spring.  Grondin started his minor ball with the Riverside Royals before winning a PBLO Championship with the Tecumseh Thunder.

Saints Head Coach Tristan Bouchat revealed about Grondin, "Cameron is a gamer and someone we trust in any situation to get critical outs. He already features a polished three-pitch mix, strong command and the composure needed to compete at a high level."

Grondin will begin his studies at St. Clair this fall in the Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technician program.

Grondin will be able to throw to his high school teammate from Riverside Secondary in 6'1" catcher Logan McCandless (Windsor, ON) who signed on after also playing minor ball with the Riverside Royals prior to joining the Windsor Selects.  The Honour Roll student at Riverside will be enrolled in St. Clair's Business Administration-Accounting program.

Bouchat praised McCandless by saying, "Logan is a big catcher who provides strong receiving skills and a defensive presence that supports our pitching staff.  At the plate, he adds strength and power that will lengthen our lineup."

The Saints will be adding some more talent up the middle from the Tecumseh Thunder with the addition of middle infielders 5'11" 2B Nick McMillan (Lakeshore, ON/St. Anne) and 5'10" SS Mylo Wasileff (LaSalle, ON/St. Thomas of Villanova) along with 5'10" CF James Casey (LaSalle, ON/Sandwich).

McMillan can also play the other side of second base at shortstop and was part of 16U PBLO Championship with the Thunder in addition to winning a WECSSAA and SWOSSAA baseball championship with St. Anne.  He will taking St. Clair's Pre-Service Firefighter Education and Training program this fall.

St. Clair's Infielder Coach Kevin Paradis who also worked with McMillan in the Thunder organization complimented him by stating, "Nick has a very high Baseball IQ and is a second baseman with a very high ceiling.  He has an elite arm and turns the double play as well as anyone we have seen at this age. He currently plays on a very strong 18U Tecumseh Thunder team that will continue to prepare him for his arrival in September."

Wasileff played with the Great Lake Canadians in addition to the Tecumseh Thunder but had a fine multi-sport career at St. Thomas of Villanova winning team awards Football as well as Track and Field.

Paradis complimented Wasileff by saying, "We are extremely excited to have Mylo join the Saints.  We have had our eyes on him for a few years as he is a high-level defender who can lineup up at three different infield positions.  He has a very strong work ethic and will be playing SS for the Windsor Selects this summer in the strong CPBL League."

In the classroom Wasileff will be starting in St. Clair's Plumbing Techniques program this fall.

Casey has put time in with Sandwich Secondary, the LaSalle Titans and the Tecumseh Thunder where he was part of a 2024 PBLO Championship squad.  While at Sandwich he was an Honour Roll student and participated in basketball where he won the team Coaches Award.

Casey has chosen to study in St. Clair's Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technician program.

Bouchat noted about Casey, "James is a dynamic outfielder with the speed and athleticism to handle all three outfield positions. Offensively, he combines gap-to-gap power with aggressive baserunning that puts constant pressure on the opposing defense."

The Saints picked up another infielder with the commitment of 6'3" 3B Ty Smith (Scarborough, ON/Neil McNeil) who captained the East York Bulldogs to a Toronto Baseball Association Championship this past summer and as also competed with his high school at Neil McNeil.  Smith also was a hockey all-star in 2023-24 leading the league in points.

Bouchat said of Smith, "Ty brings a natural leadership presence and will elevate our program from day one. His bat adds immediate impact and power to the middle of our lineup."

Academically Smith will be taking St. Clair's Carpentry and Renovation Techniques program this fall.

6'0" Tanner Luker (Kitchener, ON/Grand River Collegiate) is a combo player addition for the Saints as a right-handed pitcher but can also provide depth in the outfield.  He has been with the Guelph Silver Creeks club program and won a PBLO Championship at the 16U level in 2023.  Luker will be another student in St. Clair's Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technician program.

"Tanner can contribute right away as a two-way player. He is a strong outfielder who projects as a middle-of-the-order bat while also possessing the tools to start and win games on the mound," commented Bouchat about Luker.

6'0" Ethan Watkins (Woodstock, ON/Huron Park) will make an impression as a member of the pitching staff having been a part of the Mid-West Ontario Bearcats club program and received the highest possible honour from his Huron Park Secondary School as a Hall of Fame inductee. He will be studying in St. Clair's Fitness and Health Promotion program starting this coming fall.

Bouchat praised Watkins by saying, "Ethan is a power arm who attacks hitters and has the durability to work deep into games. He competes with confidence, embraces big moments, and brings a relentless mindset to every start."

Bouchat said of the incoming crop, "We are super excited about this recruiting class as they are going to raise the level of internal competition right away and make the team better.  We significantly improved as a program both on and off the field with this talented group of young men."
