Women's Softball Drop First Game at OCAA’s

Oshawa, ON – The St. Clair College Women's Softball team lost 5-1 to host Durham College Friday evening at the OCAA Provincial Championship tournament being hosted in Oshawa. The Saints will need a win Saturday afternoon at 12:00pm to get back to the gold medal round against Humber. The loser of the will be awarded the bronze medal in the St. Clair/Humber matchup. 

Durham scored two runs in the opening inning as well as the 4th before taking a 5-0 lead in the 6th.  The Saints loaded the bases in the 7th but could only scratch a lone run before they ran out of time.  St. Clair's Reese Grondin (LaSalle, ON/St. Thomas of Villanova) was named their Player of the Game contributing a double to the offense. 

Ashton Fong (Colwood, BC) took the loss on the pitching strip for the Saints surrendering ten hits and five earned runs against top seeded Durham who will need to be beaten twice in the double knockout format.
