Saints Dominate Homecoming Game, Move to 4-0 on Season
Windsor, ON – The St. Clair Saints Football crushed the Hamilton Hurricanes 83-0 in the first game in front of St. Clair College students at the Homecoming game. The Saints have now outscored opponents 261-7 in four games.
Another lopsided victory saw multiple Saints hit the scoresheet, but the offense was once again led by Quarterback Maurice Sodja (Louisville, Kentucky) who tallied 6 total touchdowns (3 passing and 3 rushing) while combining for 280 total yards (186 passing and 94 rushing). M.J Doyle-Marshall (Airdrie, AB) led the rushing attack once again totaling 114 yards on 14 carries, he also extended his touchdown streak now to four straight games. Wide Receiver Cameron St. Kitts-Park (Oshawa, ON) added 2 more receiving touchdowns to his season total, which is now at 6. All-Canadian Receiver Javier Lewis (Toronto, ON) returned to action after being sidelined for the first three games of the season and found the endzone on an 18-yard touchdown reception from Sodja. Other touchdowns were scored by; Jesse Burella (Sault Ste. Marie), Rome Iroriteraye (Mississauga, ON) and John Baya (Hamilton, ON).
The Defense posted its third straight shutout and wreaked havoc all night forcing the Hurricanes into 5 turnovers. Defensive Backs Gamy Kazadi (London, ON) and Brandon Vecchio (Sault Ste. Marie, ON) both had an interception, and both forced a fumble. Defensive End Jaylin Burnett (South St. Paul, Minnesota) had 4 tackles, 2 tackles for loss and an interception of his own.
We would like to thank the Saints Student Athletic Association for putting together the whiteout game for Homecoming once again this year and donating the 500 t-shirts.
The Saints will once again play at home next week as the Ottawa Sooners will travel down to Acumen Stadium. Kick-off is set for 7:00pm.
