Saints Football Clinch First Place in OFC With Win Over Ottawa

Ottawa, ON – The St. Clair Saints Football team has clinched first place in the OFC with a 40-10 win over the Ottawa Sooners on Saturday night in Ottawa. This is the 4th straight OFC Regular Season first place finish since joining Saints Nation. Clinching first place means the Saints will host an OFC Semi-Final on Saturday, October 19th at 7:00pm.

Another lopsided win saw the Saints defense dominate once again, this time forcing the Sooners into 6 turnovers (3 interceptions and 3 fumble recoveries). Defensive Back Nate Tyszkiewicz (Toronto, ON) returned his interception for a 57-yard touchdown. Gaddy Kazadi (London, ON) and Brandon Vecchio (Sault Ste. Marie, ON) both added to their interception total and now have 3 each on the season.

The offense opened the game with a quick score thanks to Running Back MJ Doyle-Marshall (Airdrie, AB) who capped off a long drive with a 13-yard rushing touchdown. Quarterback Maurice Sodja (Kentucky, Louisville) tallied his 9th rushing touchdown of the season when he ran one into the endzone from 18-yards out. Sodja then threw his lone passing touchdown to Wide Receiver Tai Colquhoun (Windsor, ON) for a 28-yard score. Doyle-Marshall added another rushing touchdown late in the game to extend the lead, this was also Doyle-Marshall's 9th rushing touchdown of the season.

The Saints will now play their final regular season game on the road in Hamilton next Sunday, October 6th at 4:00pm.
