Golf Teams Taking Part in OCAA Championship Monday
The St. Clair College women's and men's golf teams will be taking part in the OCAA Championship from September 29 to October 2. The event is being hosted by Georgian College at The Barrie Country Club.
The players took part in a practice round on Sunday, September 29th with three rounds of golf scheduled for the next three days.
Taking part for St. Clair in the women's team and individual competition will be rookie Alyssa Cowling (Villanova; Oldcastle) and second year player Justine Gorham (L'Essor; Amherstburg). For the team portion of the women's event 3 players can play with the top 2 scores counting each day. Cowling has had some great success in the OCAA Invitationals leading up to the Championship.
Taking part for St. Clair in men's team and individual competition will be Spencer Higginbottom (Lakeshore; Tecumseh Vista), Simon Moir (London; St. Thomas Aquinas) Steven Hill (Lakeshore; St. Anne's), Cale Maronate (Harrow; Kingsville) and Owen Laverty (Whitby; Brooklin High). For the team portion of the men's event 5 players can play with the top 4 scores counting each day.
The top teams and individuals will qualify for the CCAA Championship being hosted by Humber College at RedCrest Golf Club from October 14-18.
The St. Clair men's team earned an OCAA team bronze medal last year and finished 4th at Nationals.
