Men’s Basketball Dominate Conestoga in Home Opener

Windsor, ON – The St. Clair College Men's Basketball team cruised past Conestoga College (Kitchener) in their OCAA West Division regular season home opener with a 121-68 victory Friday night at the SportsPlex.

The teams traded the lead a few times in the first five minutes, but the Saints used a 19-0 run to help themselves to a 32-21 advantage entering to the second quarter.  St. Clair were extremely comfortable scoring 36 points on over 60% shooting before the half for a 68-37 intermission cushion.  The Saints were able to share the scoring the remainder of the game with twelve players recording a basket resulting in 55 points off the bench. 

St. Clair scored 43 points off 36 Conestoga turnovers and outrebounded the visitors 44-33 on their way to 23 second chance points.  Conestoga did make more from distance (11 to 10) but gave up 62 points in the paint. 

3^rd year transfers Amari Frye (Ypsilanti, MI) and Kyle Brown-Fazekas (Windsor, ON/Kennedy) each scored a game high 21 points for the Saints.  4^th year transfer Jacob Masters (Toronto, ON) put up 17 points while Darnelle Peddie (Pickering, ON) and Mazin Tiea (Windsor, ON/Kennedy) chipped in with 11 and 10 points respectively. 

The St. Clair Men host Canadore College (North Bay) on Sunday with tip time at 1:00pm in their next West Division regular season game.
