Windsor, ON – The St. Clair College Men's Basketball team cruised past Conestoga College (Kitchener) in their OCAA West Division regular season home opener with a 121-68 victory Friday night at the SportsPlex.
The teams traded the lead a few times in the first five minutes, but the Saints used a 19-0 run to help themselves to a 32-21 advantage entering to the second quarter. St. Clair were extremely comfortable scoring 36 points on over 60% shooting before the half for a 68-37 intermission cushion. The Saints were able to share the scoring the remainder of the game with twelve players recording a basket resulting in 55 points off the bench.
St. Clair scored 43 points off 36 Conestoga turnovers and outrebounded the visitors 44-33 on their way to 23 second chance points. Conestoga did make more from distance (11 to 10) but gave up 62 points in the paint.
3rd year transfers Amari Frye (Ypsilanti, MI) and Kyle Brown-Fazekas (Windsor, ON/Kennedy) each scored a game high 21 points for the Saints. 4th year transfer Jacob Masters (Toronto, ON) put up 17 points while Darnelle Peddie (Pickering, ON) and Mazin Tiea (Windsor, ON/Kennedy) chipped in with 11 and 10 points respectively.
The St. Clair Men host Canadore College (North Bay) on Sunday with tip time at 1:00pm in their next West Division regular season game.
