Men’s Basketball Boast Three Players with Top OCAA Honours
Windsor, ON – The St. Clair College Men's Basketball can boast three players who will receive OCAA accolades with Wednesday's announcement of league awards.
4th year forward Mazin Tiea (Windsor, ON/Kennedy) was the big winner for the Saints securing West Division Defensive Player of the Year, West Division First-Team All-Star and CCAA All-Canadian honours. He finished 10th in the OCAA scoring with a 16.1ppg average and was 2nd in field goal percentage (62%), 5th in rebounding (8.7 per game) and led the league in blocked shots with 46 (2.9 per game).
Tiea becomes the 6th CCAA All-Canadian in St. Clair Men's Basketball history joining Jimmy Parsons (1997-98), David Korenic (2009-10), David Gomez Jr. (2022), Shakael Pryce (2022-23) and Chad Vincent-Simon (2023-24) which also makes it four years in a row with a Saint taking home that hardware.
St. Clair earned three spots on the West Division First-Team All-Star team as 4th year transfer guard Jacob Masters (Toronto, ON) and 3rd year transfer guard Kyle Brown-Fazekas (Windsor, ON/Kennedy) each provided Tiea company on that squad.
Masters was the 8th leading scorer in the province topping the Saints with a 17.1ppg average while making the most triples in the league (65) including the 2nd best conversion rate at nearly 42% from distance.
Brown-Fazekas netted 13.1ppg but also led the Saints in steals (2.2 per game) and was 2nd on the team in rebounding at 4.9 rebounds per contest.
The Saints (17-2) host Lambton College (Sarnia) Saturday at the SportsPlex in an OCAA quarterfinal game and the league award winners for both teams will be recognized prior to the 4:00pm tip time.
