Men's Basketball Still Adding Size

Windsor, ON – The St. Clair College Saints Men's Basketball team is still growing taller and are happy to announce the commitment of 6'6" Forward/Centre Abass Al-Eidany (Windsor, ON/Kennedy) and 6'5" transfer guard Troy Nekkers (Windsor, ON/Kennedy) who are both signed on for the 2025-26 season.

Al-Eidany was a team captain and WECSSAA All-Star helping the Clippers to an OSBA League championship and an OFSAA appearance during his time at Kennedy.

Saints Co-Head Coach Matt Sykes had positive comments about Al-Eidany stating, "Abass's physicality, work ethic, and maturity is unmatched for someone coming out of high school.  He plays with a certain level of grit and toughness that you just can't teach. Abass can play the 4 or 5 in different lineups, will guard multiple positions, swing out and shoot it when needed and rebound with the best of them."

Nekkers transferred from the University of Western Ontario after one season where he averaged 16.9 MPG, 4.2 PPG, 2.2 RPG, 1.5 APG for the Mustangs.  Prior to that his Kennedy Prep highlights included a First-Team OSBA Trillium league selection.

St. Clair Co-Head Coach Brendon Seguin praised the Nekkers signing by expressing, "We are very excited to add a player of Troy's caliber. He will be leaned on offensively and can score from all levels.  Defensively he adds size and rebounding at the guard position.  He will be able defend 1 through 4 and will be a welcome addition on that end of the floor."

Seguin continued, "We believe Troy has a very high ceiling and look forward to him wearing green and gold."

Sykes had final thoughts about the commitments saying, "Adding two more local standouts from Kennedy will provide a unique opportunity for these players that have previously played together in high school. The local basketball community will get a chance to watch a Saints roster comprised of mostly Windsor players push for a provincial and national championship for their hometown College.

Sykes continued, "This is also very special for us as a coaching staff because we have built a nationally ranked program over the last few years with the majority of out of town and out of country players.  That success is allowing us to recruit and keep the best players in Windsor home."

Both young men will be enrolled academically in St. Clair's Protection, Security and Investigation program.
