Men's Soccer Suffer Tough Loss

 

(London; ON) The St. Clair College men's soccer team continued their OCAA regular season on Saturday afternoon in London against the Fanshawe Falcons and suffered a hard fought 2-1 loss.

The Saints got off to a good start on a goal by Nico Gualtieri (Kingsville; Cardinal Carter) in the 8th minute assisted by Nick Rahie (Leamington; Cardinal Carter). Fanshawe tied the match in the 24th minute and then took the lead in the 45th minute. St. Clair had a couple of chances in the 2nd half to tie the match but could not find the goal.

Keeper Brendon Gaudreau (Windsor; St. Joe's) had a solid game turning aside 7 of 9 shots on goal.

The win improved the Falcons record to 7-1 who are ranked in 2nd in Ontario and 4th in Canada.

With the loss the Saints record dropped to 1 win, 6 losses and a tie on the season. St. Clair has struggled to find the back of the net all season with 5 of their 6 losses coming by 2 goals or less and only scoring 6 goals in 8 matches.

St. Clair is next in action on Wednesday, October 9 when they host the Lambton Lions at 7 pm at Acumen Stadium.
