Women's Volleyball Off to Provincial Championship
The St. Clair Women's volleyball team is off to Toronto to take part in the OCAA Championship. The event is being hosted by Humber Polytechnic on February 21 & 22.
The Saints will be taking on the Fanshawe Falcons on Friday at 7:30 pm in the second semi-final match of the day. The winner will advance to the Gold Medal game on Saturday at 5:00 pm while the loser will play for Bronze on Saturday at 2:30 pm. The host Humber Hawks are taking on Niagara College in the other semi-final at 5:00 pm. The winner of the Gold Medals will advance to the CCAA Championship being hosted by Durham College in Oshawa.
St. Clair will be looking for their second gold medal in history with the last Championship coming in 1997. The Saints last won a OCAA medal bringing home a bronze in 2020.
The St. Clair women ended the regular season in 2nd place in the West Division with a record of 16-2. Both loses were to the Humber Hawks. The Saints are currently ranked 2nd in Ontario and 11th in Canada. Fanshawe finished the regular season in 4th place in the West Division with a record of 9-9 and in 4th place. The Falcons are ranked 8th in Ontario. St. Clair defeated Fanshawe twice during the regular season by scores of 3-1 both times.
The Saints will be led by third year middle Geneva Huisman (Amherstburg; Maranatha Christian Academy) who was recently name the OCAA West Division Player of the Year and a CCAA All Canadian.
