Cross Country Improves in King City

King City, ON – The St. Clair College team competed in their second event of the season on Friday at the Seneca King Campus Invitational in King City, ON showing improved results in both genders.  The meet saw eight OCAA schools participate where the Saints were 2nd Place as a team in the Women's event and the Men finished in 4th Place. 

The St. Clair Women's team was led again by Victoria Horrobin (Wallaceburg, ON) who crossed the line in 6th Place with a time of 26:34 over the 6km course.  Camryn Crawford (Kemptville, ON) ran in her first event of the season for the Saints finishing 10th with a time of 28:14.  Justine Abbott (Wyoming, ON) and Melody Knight (Tecumseh, ON/Tecumseh Vista) came across in 15th (29:49) and 16th (30:01) positions respectively for St. Clair.  Other entries for the Saints were Kendra Bell (Windsor, ON/Holy Names) in 27th at 31:53 and Emersyn Grondin (Tecumseh, ON/Tecumseh Vista) who was 30th with a time of 32:18 in a field of 46 runners. 

In the Men's event St. Clair 2nd year runner Noah Nicoletti (Windsor, ON/Holy Names) had his best finish to date placing 11th and stopped his clock at 30:34.  He was followed closely by teammate Melein Keflay (Windsor, ON/Assumption) at 30:41 in 12th Place.  Russell Niedre (Ottawa, ON) was 18th in 32:19 for the Saints and Wesley Hearn (Windsor, ON/Sandwich) was the other counting runner in 25th position with a time of 32:52 over the 8km course.  Daniel Herrera (Windsor, ON/Kennedy) was the final entry for St. Clair in 50th place with a time of 39:29 in a field of 64 racers.  Carter Free (Napanee, ON) did not compete for the Saints this weekend.

The next meet for the St. Clair Cross Country team will be Oct. 5th at the Fanshawe College Invitational Meet at the Fanshawe Conservation Area in London, ON.
