College Cross Country Working Towards Peak
Scarborough, ON – The St. Clair College Cross Country team ran in their fourth event of the season on Saturday at Centennial College's Meet held on the grounds of their Ashtonbee campus in Scarborough. The Saints continued to work towards peak performance as the Women's team placed second with the Men's team finishing third.
The St. Clair Women had a standout finish by Victoria Horrobin (Wallaceburg, ON) who took 2nd Place with a time of 23:51 over the 6km course. Melody Knight (Tecumseh, ON/Tecumseh Vista) was top-10 in 9th Place with a time of 26:54 while teammate Justine Abbott (Wyoming, ON) was 13th in 27:10 for the Saints. Kendra Bell (Windsor, ON/Holy Names) was 18th in 28:18 and Emersyn Grondin (Tecumseh, ON/Tecumseh Vista) rounded out St. Clair's team finishing 25th with a time 29:43 in a field of 38 runners.
St. Clair's Carter Free (Napanee, ON) continued his improvement placing 6th in a time of 26:33 over the 8km course. Melein Keflay (Windsor, ON/Assumption) had his second straight 9th Place finish with a time of 27:34 for the Saints followed directly by teammate Noah Nicoletti (Windsor, ON/Holy Names) in 10th Place stopping his watch at 27:39. St. Clair's Russell Niedre (Ottawa, ON) was 21st in 28:43 and the other finishers for St. Clair were Wesley Hearn (Windsor, ON/Sandwich) in 25th (29:11) along with Daniel Herrera (Windsor, ON/Kennedy) who was 50th (35:31) in a field of 57 racers.
The St. Clair Cross Country team will now make their final preparations for the OCAA Provincial Championships being hosted by Seneca Polytechnic Oct. 26th at their King City campus.
