Women's Volleyball Improve to 13-2

The St. Clair College women's volleyball team opened up their OCAA second semester home schedule with two wins on the weekend.

On Saturday, St. Clair took on the Cambrian Golden Shield (Sudbury) and earned a hard fought 3-2 comeback victory. Set scores for the Saints were 24-26, 24-26, 25-13, 25-19, and 15-13.

Middle Geneva Huisman (Amherstburg; Maranatha Christian Academy) led the way for the Saints with 20 kills (.415 kill %), 4 stuff blocks, 1 service ace and 4 digs. Outsider hitter Haleigh Kearns (Prince George, BC; DP Todd Secondary) had a solid match with 16 kills, 4 service aces, 1 stuff block and 8 digs. Cambrian's record is now 6-7 on the year.

On Sunday afternoon, the Saints hosted College Boreal (Sudbury) and came away with a solid 3-0 win. Set scores for St. Clair were 25-5, 25-21, and 25-11.

Middle Harley Smith (Essex; Essex District) led the way offensively with 12 kills (.688 kill %) and 2 service aces. Setter Emma Cabral (Milton; Craig Kielburger) had a solid game with 34 assists and 5 digs. Boreal's record dropped to 0-13 with the loss.

The Saints are now 13-2 on the season and are ranked 2nd in Ontario and 11th in Canada.

St. Clair is next in action on Saturday, January 25 when they travel to Welland to take on the Niagara Knights at 1 pm.
